Dear Benefactors,
First and foremost, on behalf of all the Sisters and the children with disabilities under our care, I would like to extend our warmest greetings and wish you abundant health and peace in the Risen Lord.
Allow me to introduce myself: I am Sister Theresa Nguyen Thi My Thanh, a member of the Lovers of the Holy Cross of Nha Trang Congregation. I am currently directly involved in caring for children with disabilities at the Hong An Disability Center. The Hong An Disability Center operates under the auspices of the Lovers of the Holy Cross of Nha Trang Congregation and is located at 113 Duc Nghia, Duc Lap, Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong). We currently provide care for 110 children with a wide range of disabilities, including Down syndrome, hearing impairments, autism, cerebral palsy(CP), Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and visual impairments. Our Disability Center began its operations in August 2022 and has now been active for four years.
Intending to enhance the quality of care and nurture for children with disabilities in this mountainous region while fostering a spirit of compassion and sharing within the community, we have adopted the theme: “Promoting the Participation Rights of People with Disabilities – Creating Breakthroughs for Development.” To mark the observance of the Vietnamese Disability Day and to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Center’s Founding on September 5, 2026, our Disability Center plans to organize a series of activities, including cultural exchanges, discussion sessions, trivia contests, competitive games with prizes, and the distribution of educational gifts to the children with disabilities residing at the Center. Furthermore, our Center intends to conduct outreach visits to provide direct material support and gifts to families and individuals with disabilities who are facing hardships in the local community of Duc Nghia hamlet, Duc Lap commune.
To ensure that the aforementioned initiative is organized in a meaningful and beneficial manner, the Center is issuing this open letter with the hope of receiving the attention, companionship, and support of our benefactors. Such support may take various forms, including daily necessities, confectionery, milk, educational aids, comic books, and more. The invaluable assistance provided by our benefactors will help improve living conditions and bring joy and happiness to the children and orphans with disabilities currently under the Center’s direct care. Consequently, these children with disabilities will gain renewed faith and motivation to live, knowing that they are never alone—that they are always accompanied and supported by society and their loved ones.
