We are one of 73 communities of Lovers of the Holy Cross of Nha Trang. We established Men Thanh Gia Nha Trang’s Charity as a bridge in order to support and promote the mission of social work of charity of our Congregation to serve the vulnerable and the marginalized, especially those are in Vietnam, our homeland.
Our Congregation, the Lovers of the Holy Cross of Nha Trang, is one of many religious communities that implement the model of the combined services of social, medical, and educational works of charity. We imitate Jesus Christ Crucified, be transformed, and let Him live and act in us and through us so that we are able to continue His salvific mission through our intercessory life of prayer, sacrifice, and service, so all may experience God’s love and conversion of hearts. Following our spirituality, we live and work to share God’s love, hope, healing, and joy with all people, especially in serving people of vulnerable groups such as children, women, people with disabilities, the marginalized, the poor, and those in need in the educational, medical and social fields.
Along with serving the local parish churches in pastoral works voluntarily and educating children in our private kindergartens and preschools, we operate and work in our charitable social work centers, including two orphanages, four boarding schools for children with deafness, two boarding schools for children with Down syndrome and cerebral palsy, two centers serving children of the ethnic minority groups, and a center serving patients with leprosy and their children. We also voluntarily serve in the hospitals, an HIV center, and work in some of our traditional Asian clinics.
Our charitable services at social work centers, orphanages and schools still have many challenges and limitations that need to be improved. For example, many unjust issues, discrimination, and bias in our society can increase the risk of denying and ignoring human dignity. Though being supported, they still have to face many challenges in their lives and their future. In addition, the rate of abortion, poverty, and other issues in Vietnam are still alarming, and they increase the risk to people of vulnerable groups. Besides, our professional personnel, finance, and other resources still have many limitations. We need to continue to improve ourselves and all of the resources to serve our people more effectively, to save more children from abortion, and to share and reduce challenges and burdens of the people of vulnerable groups. When we see the smiles and bright faces of the people we serve, we are grateful and encouraged to continue our charitable mission to share God’s love, justice, and hope for a better future.
Based on the Church’s stance and the many challenges in Vietnamese society, Vietnamese Christians are devoted to offering a combined social, medical, and educational work of charity to protect human dignity, enhance life, and share love and justice with others. Jesus Christ is the Good News of Life that has come to our world for over 2026 years. From the Apostles’ time to the present, the Church is always faithful and ceaselessly proclaiming the Gospel of Life. Vietnamese Christians also evangelize the Gospel of Life through worship, adoration, and offering charitable services to our people, including people of other religions and all nonbelievers in Vietnam. Although Vietnam has many political, economic, and social difficulties, we believe that the Holy Spirit of Christ will always guide the Church and all people to join and implement practical actions to show and share God’s love and justice with other people.
